Many times I get in fights with the attending doctors especially in
the ICU(intensive care unit),when I bring a case report of a similar
case that they are willing to put it on NO CPR (If the patient arrest
don't do anything and don't give any medications until any new
order),and these cases I discuss are of similar situations when the
patient made it although it might one in million chance...Although I
think a very important point that most doctors considered a Taboo and
mustn't be considered so is discussing this issue with the patient
himself or herself(and not discussing this with somebody who loves the
patient very much madly, or somebody who is waiting to take the
apartment or the money in the bank)..

From two month we had a patient of 124 years old, all of you would say
that his sons and daughters would have this man as a burden. On the
contrary we needed about 11 days to convince the family that the
patient is having esophageal cancer and told me that why id didn't
happen thirty years ago???The small son a 60 years old man was crying
and kissing his fathers legs, he was fighting with the nurses not to
wash his father since he would do it himself, and don't want anyone to
see his father Naked!!!

The result was at the day of death of this patient 5 big doctors of
wide specialties (The Biggest names in Lebanon), sitting on the head of
the man and trying to bring life to him...Since the family wanted
that...124 years were enough to ask this man what he wants to do in
such situation, I think he knows about religion, life and death more
than all of us, especailly that he was a good Moslem from Doneeyah..
I think we had done much to such a person who had lived happily to die
happily and not with 11 broken ribs and 6 tubes in his body and
needles and.....

Lets not push death or life......think that sometimes you will have
somebody arriving to the hospital 20 years old after a car accident
and if you don't have place in all the hospitals in Lebanon, then let
him die, since our ICU is full of vegetative patients and I am seeing
that weekly in hospital..

I wish that I had touched the nerve in my email...

Sorry for longetivity
