Why would learning English -or any other language- be fine and not Hebrew
?

Anyhow, I only said I believe there's nothing wrong in learning it
but this doesn't mean that we HAVE TO learn it

there's no obligation

but it would be good for those who have time to learn it

Learning Hebrew is highly recomended for many reasons. The old Arab wisdom says : "Know Your Enemy" It is also reported that the Prophet , sallallahu alaihi wa sallam told one of his companions:"Learn the book of the Jews for I do not trust their intentions towards our Book",
تعلم كتاب اليهود ؛ فإني لا آمنهم على كتابنا
and it has been said "Whosoever learns the language of a people becomes immune to their evils"
من تعلم لغة قوم أمن شرهم.
Some say this is a Hadeeth but it's not.

So there's nothing wrong in learning Hebrew, I wish I had the time.
