Georgia governor leads prayer for rain



Hundreds gather for the vigil on the state Capitol's steps, hoping a miracle could end the drought. But others aren't so sure.

ATLANTA -- Bowing his head outside the Georgia Capitol on Tuesday, Gov. Sonny Perdue cut a newly repentant figure as he publicly prayed for rain to end the region's historic drought.

The issue of rain- or even deprivation of it- is taken seriously in Islam. That's why we have Salat al-Istisq'a and other means of asking God for rain - like Istighfar (asking God's forgiveness)

God is kindly "asked", He is not ordered, and it is up to Him to answer or not.. The Lord is not given orders
