BELLY-BUTTONS, BARE BUTTOCKS AND OUR MUSLIM GIRLS

From Meer Sahib

Dear All
ASA

I never thought I would write on this topic. During
the last Eid, certain shameful things happened, and
since the next Eid is just around the corner, I
believe it is timely that we ensure that last Eid's
unfortunate experience is not repeated.

During last Eid prayers at the Western Fair, some
sisters could not concentrate on their prayers, as
some young girls praying in the front rows were
exposing their rear-ends. Especially during rukuh and
sajdah, they became indecently exposed.

This is because, our fashion conscious Muslimah, have
adopted the non-Muslim dress code which reveal
midriffs (bellage), belly-buttons (navelage) and upper
buttocks (ruggage). The low-cut pants barely hanging
on their hips, and croptops (or belly shirts) do not
belong in Islamic wardrobe, but sadly many of young
women have fallen victim to western society's
afflictions.

Not long ago, I attended a conference organized by our
local youth. I was shocked to see so many MUSLIM GIRLS
baring their belly buttons and midriff. I knew some
Muslim girls did not wear hijab, but I never thought
they would wear such outrageous outfits, and be
indecently exposing themselves, especially at an
"ISLAMIC" conference. If I saw them at public places,
like shopping malls, I would have paid no attention,
as it is almost impossible to know if they were
Muslims. But they were at an Islamic conference and
so, they must be Muslims.

As we were seated and waiting for the conference to
begin, a young lady came and sat at a table right in
front of us. As this young lady sat, her low-cut pants
exposed her ruggage and muffin-top. All of us felt
quite uneasy. She too was desperately trying to pull
her shirt down, but to no avail!

So, when I heard the sisters complaining about the
young girls immodestly dressed for prayers at Eid, I
knew exactly what they meant.

This kind of outfits have become quite the norm for
non-Muslim girls. Unfortunately, the bars for
standards of modesty are being lowered regularly, in
the Western world.

Whose fault is it that our girls dress like that? Do
they know what the Islamic injunctions are?

The Holy Prophet is reported to have said :" Verily,
the gaze is a poisonous arrow from the arrows of
Satan"

"The Curse of Allah is on the one who sees and on the
one who is
seen"

When a man looks at a non-mahram woman, then Allah's
curse descends on both of them. The woman, by her
seductive appearance has contributed to the man's
committing a sin (even though men are commanded to
lower their gaze). Not just one man, but hundreds of
men (Muslim and non-Muslim), may be seeing her
exposed. During all this time, Allah's curse is
befalling on the woman and the men. Which Muslim would
knowingly contribute to the downfall of other Muslims
and earn the wrath of Allah?

Even some respectable non-Muslims do not condone this
kind of behaviour. In the website 'Moms for Modesty',
the scantily dressed girls are blamed for 'taunting
young men'. Young men are sexually aroused by the
seductively dressed girls, and this becomes a kind of
taunting for the young men, as they are not married
and have no means of relieving their sexual desires.
This often results in rapes: One Christian mother
wrote: " I believe that it is unwise and unfair to
taunt boys and young men by permitting my daughter(s)
to dress in an immodest manner..."

html

The Bible also says: ".. that whoever looketh on a
woman to lust after her, hath committed adultery with
her in his heart" (Mathew 5:28). So, Muslim girls
exposing themselves like this, according to the Bible,
are partners in adultery with men who are strangers.

Which Muslim girl would like to carry this heavy
burden of sins? Which father and mother would like to
be punished for not teaching their children modesty?
If you are a brother of a girl who dresses immodestly,
can you truly hold your head up without feeling the
shame?

Here is a letter in the website 'American Decency
Association'. The writer laments the same experience
our sisters at Eid prayers were complaining about:
"This subject is one that grieves me also. I recently
attended a church service (supposedly evangelical)
where the worship team
was dressed very immodestly. One girl had the "mod"
midriff style
showing her belly button while another had pants that
were so tight they had to be sprayed on her hips. I
was deeply offended and found it very difficult to
worship with that kind of exposure on the platform.
What has happened to the Biblical teaching that
Christians should dress modestly'

Many of our core values have been demonized by
Judeo-Christian Zionists. Today Zakah has come to mean
'terror-funding' and Jihad, 'terrorism'. But even such
enemies of Muslims could not destroy the core value of
Muslim modesty. Unfortunately, our young Muslim girls
are doing just that.

Do our young girls think that by exposing their
'wares' they could attract lovers? Which Muslim, worth
his name, would marry a girl of bad repute? The only
man such a girl may marry would be one of the same
character. So, what would be the fate of their
off-springs? What kind of society can we hope to have?

Mothers, fathers, teachers, and the society as a
whole, will all be accountable in front of Allah about
the tarbiyyah (education and upbringing) of this
generation. If its tarbiyah is good, then there will
be happiness - both in this world and the Hereafter.
If it is not, then there will be misery, and it will
be a rope around our necks - since there occurs in the
hadeeth: "Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you
will be questioned about those who you are responsible
for."

These girls need help and not condemnation. This
responsibility has been placed on us by Allah swt. :
"O you who believe! Save yourselves and your families
from Hellfire whose fuel is men and stones".
